Spring Clean Your Life, not just your home!

A flexible personal loan isn’t always the answer…

The warmer weather is finally here and many people’s thoughts turn to … spring cleaning! Which is strange when you think about it, as it should really be the time of year to get out and about but instead we suddenly start cleaning the homes we’ve been stuck inside all winter!

As well as spring cleaning our homes, many of us feel a fresh burst of enthusiasm to get other things in our lives sorted out as the warmer weather arrives. It’s as if we’ve been in hibernation mode throughout the colder months, and along with the sunshine comes a renewed determination to kick start those long-dormant New Year resolutions!

Why not harness this energy into something positive? Turn “I can’t” into “I can”! As well as specific goals you may have for your life, here are a few ideas that might inspire you to spring clean your life:

Declutter!
We all have too much “stuff”. It mounts up and can start getting us down. Those who adhere to the principles of feng shui (in simple terms meaning that the way your home is arranged can determine your physical and emotional well-being) believe that clutter not only looks horrible in your home but it also complicates your life, takes up precious time, and zaps vital energy. So why not decide to drastically declutter one room in your home every weekend from now on until it’s all done? You could also sell the items you don’t want or need, bringing in some useful extra income, which is much more flexible than a personal loan!

Sort out your finances
We know, we know! This something you keep meaning to do but just don’t. Again, it is worth dedicating a weekend to getting things sorted. It’s time to sort out a monthly budget if you don’t already have one. Make a list of everything that you are spending and check each and every item to see whether it is really essential or if it could be reduced or stopped altogether. Resolve to budget carefully from now on, and start getting on top of your spending before it gets on top of you. This will put you in a far better financial position than ending up borrowing money; even a flexible personal loan is yet another financial commitment to be wary of.

Plan for your financial future
These days we can get so wrapped up in the present that it’s hard to think about the future. But now is as good a time as any to look it fair and square in the face! Do you have in place any of the following?

  • Savings
  • Pension
  • Life Insurance
  • Health Insurance
  • Will

Why not start looking into any of the above that you don’t have? Word of mouth is a good place to start: talk to family and friends to see if they can suggest helpful ways that they have put things in place.

Also look at rationalising your existing financial commitments and paying off whatever you can: if you have commitments such as a flexible personal loan you should be able to pay these off early.

Is your job working?
It is so easy to fall into a routine with work that before we know it another year has passed by and nothing has changed. If you are in a job you like and that is working for you then all well and good. But if you want to move upwards or earn more money, or if you are stagnating in your job then it may be an ideal time to start looking around for something else. Bear in mind that things can go a little more slowly over the summer months so what you could do is try to find something new to start this autumn and give yourself time to have a really good look around and gearing yourself up for change.

Health and Fitness
To succeed in any of the above you need to look after yourself! Health and fitness goals are not just about physical milestones such as losing half a stone or being able to do a charity run. The most important thing is to be the best that you can be, not just physically but also mentally and emotionally. So health and fitness goals will be different for all of us. They may not involve anything along the lines of eating more healthily going to the gym three times a week but simply be about getting enough rest and relaxation to be able to manage the rest of your life effectively. Whatever else is happening in your life, try to put yourself first sometimes.

So this time as summer approaches, don’t let the opportunity for a fresh start pass you by! Jump on the bandwagon and spring clean your life. You’ll be glad you did!
